We’re having a beautiful Fall at Terra Firma.  Since mid-October it’s been chilly at night with warm-ish sunny afternoons.  But like clockwork this week, there has been a subtle change to what I like to call “Thanksgiving Weather”.

I love Thanksgiving because it is one of the only holidays of the year that we can actually take time off from work on the farm.  That’s partially due to the slowing growth of our crops during the short days.  But it’s also due to the holiday falling on Thursday and Friday, rather than Monday — which is always our busiest day of the week.

As we approach the annual festival of the harvest, it’s time to give all our subscribers the heads-up about our schedule changes to accomodate the four-day holiday.

Subscribers who normally pick up their boxes on Thursday in the Bay Area and Friday in Sacramento/Davis subscribers will be the most impacted.  We will deliver your boxes instead on Tuesday, November 26th at their usual places and times.

Weds. pickups will remain unchanged.

At the end of this week, we will email subscribers with an advance list for the Thanksgiving boxes next week.  We will also have an order form for additional items that will be available for delivery that week and we ask that you use this form instead of the online web store.

If you are travelling for Thanksgiving or otherwise will not be picking up your box, well, you’re going to miss some good stuff.  But please remember to let us know ASAP, especially if you pick up on Thurs or Fri.  We will be packing those boxes on Monday, so we need to know by the Friday Nov. 22nd if you’ll be on vacation the following week.

And if you’re worried that you may forget to pick up your box on Tuesday, don’t worry:  I’ll be sending out the Thanksgiving newsletter that day with a big reminder at the top.  After that, we’ll be shutting the farm down for three or even four days — the longest vacation we’ve had since last January.
